Zeiss Confocal LSM 980 with Airyscan

LSM 980 with Airyscan 2 is a top-class confocal instrument designed to provide ultimate sensitivity, fastest linear scanning speeds and high-resolution imaging in a single confocal platform. The system features 6 detection channels, including 4x GaAsP detectors and cooled red MA-PMT. This configuration enables flexible imaging strategies, including molecular dynamics, recording fluorescence at single photon signal levels and spectral unmixing of overlapped emission signals. With an Airyscan 2 module, the system gains extra photon budget, which can be utilized to further speed up scanning, get higher sensitivity and increase the resolution beyond the resolution of a classic confocal microscope in all three dimensions. Fast Airyscan 2 module with Multiplexing provides imaging speed of tens frames per second while maintaining low laser excitation power at much higher signal to noise ratio and shorter pixel dwell times.

Microscope and Accessories:

  • A fully motorized Zeiss Axio Observer 7 SP inverted microscope with motorized, programmable x,y,z stage, joystick and touch panel docking control station.
  • The system is equipped with a Temperature and CO2 control chambers for live imaging.
  • The system is equipped with focus drift compensation control for stable long-term live imaging experiments.
  • A Photometrics sCMOS Prime BSI imaging camera is mounted on the microscope allowing fast scanning prior to the confocal imaging.
