X-CLARITY™ Tissue Clearing System II from Logos Biosystems

Clarity is now a well-known tissue clearing method that has opened up a world of possibilities, from tracing neuronal circuitry to exploring the relationship between structure and function. With CLARITY, preserved biological tissue samples are embedded in a hydrogel matrix to create a tissue-hydrogel hybrid. The native cytoarchitecture remains intact as macromolecules are linked together and incorporated into a porous hydrogel mesh. Lipid are actively extracted through electrophoresis by placing the hybrid in an ionic detergent solution and applying an electric current. What is left is a stable and optically transparent tissue-hydrogel hybrid that is chemically accessible for molecular phenotyping.
